The exotic foliage and vibrant hues of the Caladium plants offer brilliant color in the shade. Extensive plantings of a mixture of Caladium bulbs provides a breath-taking expanse of red, pink, white and green colors throughout summer and fall. The plants love humidity and make good house or patio plants. Each bulb provides a cluster of foliage twelve to fifteen inches high. Caladium leaves are somewhat deer resistant although the deer will nibble if hungry. If ingested can cause burning and irritation of the lips. Caladium plants are tropical and emanate from Panama to Brazil. Hardiness is present in zones ten to eleven. In more northern zones treat as an annual. |
