Water Street

Water Street in Yorktown, Virginia parallels the York River. Passing over Water Street, the George P. Coleman Bridge spans the York River at Yorktown, Virginia. It is 3,750 feet long and 74 feet wide. The Coleman Bridge is the worlds largest swing span bridge and opens in the middle to accommodate the navy ships travelling to the neighboring Naval Weapons Station.

Sandwiched between the York River shoreline and Water Street is the newly revitalized Yorktown Beach.

During late summer, large yuccas flower at the corner of Water and Ballard Streets.

Continuing on Water Street, the 18th century Archer Cottage borders Cornwallis' Cave. Cornwallis surrendered to Washington October 19, 1781.
