Welcome to Virginia Garden! This is a site devoted to amateur gardening and dilettantish digital photography. Virginia Garden, a work in progress, is located in the southeast corner of Virginia just within zone 8 of the USDA Plant Hardiness Chart. In Yorktown, Virginia the approximate minimal average temperature ranges from 10 to 20 degrees Fahrenheit.

Although the weather in the Virginia Garden is temperate, its daily visits by a deer family are not. Growing plants the deer will not eat take priority!

Clay predominates so tilling is the first step to cultivate the land. Next, shoveled and hoed into the garden beds are yards of conditioned soil.

Now the delight of gardening begins!
